AUGUSTINUS BADER
The Challenge
The Augustinus Bader beauty boutique in Paris has been reimagined with a temporary project in collaboration with Harry Nuriev of Crosby Studios.
The New York-based studio entrusted us with the production and installation of “The Skin Lab Paris”, a temporary store design within Augustinus Bader’s flagship boutique at Domaine National du Palais-Royal.
A four-month pop-up initially planned as temporary has been extended due to its success. From the outset, it faced a key challenge: no modifications could be made to the space. The walls are a protected national heritage, so we had to devise a structure that wouldn’t anchor to the ceiling, floor, or walls—nothing could be damaged. The design by Harry Nuriev required meticulous production to ensure the result met expectations.
The Result
When the creative concept comes from an artist like Harry Nuriev, the outcome can only be exceptional. Every detail and finish was meticulously executed.
Crosby Studios transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, creating unique experiences. Their projects, which blend creativity and storytelling, have earned accolades, with The New York Times calling Nuriev a “pioneer of global minimalism.”
With these principles in mind, our work had to be entirely bespoke and executed with precision. Both the brand and the designer were delighted with the outcome.
Introduction
As a premium beauty brand, Augustinus Bader is constantly innovating. Known for setting trends with its treatments, the brand aims to connect with customers through exclusive spaces. This project merged retail with the brand’s products and a skincare centre within a temporary pop-up.
The brand’s signature colours—blue and copper—combined with futuristic silver, create a striking contrast against the classic elegance of the palace.
Development
Following Crosby Studios’ design guidelines, our production had to remain true to the creative vision. Beginning with precise measurements and inspired by the studio’s ideas, we adapted the artistic, decorative, and exhibition-focused project to a real-world space.
The production was divided into two distinct areas:
The waiting area
The most striking section, showcasing products with wooden structures coated in brushed aluminium. Silver bleachers, stretching from floor to ceiling, culminate in a large lightbox at the top.
The treatment area
Situated on the ground floor, this section features walls and ceilings adorned with wood and vinyl, complemented by a metallic silver-upholstered beauty chair, adding to the futuristic aesthetic.
“Every space I create has a meditative subtext,” says Nuriev.
The boutique’s location within the majestic Palais-Royal, surrounded by gardens filled with modern art visible through the pop-up’s windows, adds a unique layer of experience. Nuriev uses this interplay of materials and settings to explore “what cosmetics retail might look like in the future.”
As he shared with Wallpaper magazine, “It’s something I’d rather not explain—just experience it for yourself.”
The project revolves around a product, a brand, and an aesthetic.
Augustinus Bader, a globally renowned scientist, has spent over 30 years researching and developing regenerative technologies, which are at the heart of the brand’s beauty products. In this pop-up, the product takes centre stage, with its colours, textures, and presentation creating a unique and standout space.

Keys to a spectacular event
01
Over six weeks, we crafted all the structures, finishes, decorative elements, furniture, and vinyl in our workshops, ensuring effective pre-assembly and phased installation.
02
The pop-up was designed to fit precisely within the existing space without reducing its dimensions. This required millimetric precision, leaving little room for error during the final installation.
03
The installation took seven consecutive days of careful, methodical work. The project’s success relied on the adaptability of our teams—joinery, metalwork, and electrical crews worked seamlessly to bring the design to life.

The outcome
When the client is thrilled from day one, the process becomes much smoother. This project can be summed up in one word: collaboration. Daily coordination between design, production, and installation teams ensured everything ran seamlessly.
The result: a delighted and impressed brand, an artist satisfied with the realisation of their vision, and a premium experience for the brand’s clientele—a perfect summary of a job well done.
